Luxembourg State Pension by career period

Gross pension a month?

The Luxembourg old-age pension at 65, before tax and social contributions.

In today's euros: at today's (2026) pay and price level, so it compares directly with a salary today. The percentages are the ones the law sets for the year you turn 65.

Paid 12 times a year. The legal maximum is a month.

Years insured in Luxembourg?

Months of work and voluntary contributions in Luxembourg, up to the month before you turn 65. Years abroad are not in this figure.

The flat part of the pension depends only on these years: 1/40 for each year, full at 40 years. For the flat part, a started year counts in full.

The two thresholds count full months: no pension under 10 years (120 months), and the minimum pension from 20 complete years (240 months).

Total career pay counted?

All the monthly pay of your career added up, in today's euros, after the contribution ceiling. A total of pay, not money saved.

The earnings part of the pension is roughly 1.5% to 2% of this total a year, paid in 12 monthly parts. The base percentage is set by law for the year you turn 65. It rises a little when your age plus your years insured passes a legal threshold. Every year counts, including years beyond 40.
